About the Founder

Michelle McClusky was taught sewing by her mother and grandmother back in the 1960’s. “My mother’s example of making clothes and costumes for me and my sisters inspired me to sew doll clothes. From there I started to fashion my own wardrobe.”

Michelle married her high school sweetheart in 1971 and four years later they had their son, Jesse. In 1979 they moved to Kirkland, Washington, where she took a job as a design consultant at a specialty antique and new accessory store called Old and Elegant. In 1982 she and her husband started an interior design business called P & M Interiors. In 1988 she attended college and received her three year degree in interior design. When her husband became pastor of King’s Gate Fellowship, in 1990, her duties as wedding consultant came easily.

For their 25th wedding anniversary, Michelle searched for a beautiful wedding dress to satisfy the dream she had always wanted. But after an endless search and not being able to find all the parts that she desired on one dress, and with the cost of a custom dress out of her budget, she drew upon her sewing skills and pieced together the dream dress. It came out so beautiful, that the wedding photographer’s exclamation was, “What a gorgeous dress!” He was even more amazed when she told him she made it. From the many “Wows!” she received about the dress and the comments that she should make wedding dresses, she was inspired to offer her help for others.

Cinderella’s Place is the result of that experience. It is where you build your own dream dress from the many available components, offered at a fraction of the cost of custom, because you rent it. There are no alteration fees because each dress is adjustable. This allows changes in size or comfort anytime you need it (like when you want to eat) by loosening or tightening the adjustable section. Creativity is their specialty. So, bring your dreams and see them come true, O Cinderella, and win your Prince Charming’s favor. Save your hard-earned money for your life together.

And they lived happily ever after!
